Commemorating the 1000 years completion of Sri Ramanujacharya’s birthday, Jeeyar Educational Trust conducted a walk-a-thon in Chennai. A WALK FOR EQUALITY. Walk for Equality is to commemorate 1000 years of Saint Ramanuja, who constantly worked towards rooting out untouchability and other vices. It is to propagate the principles of equality propounded by him. The walk started from Sri Venkateswara Swamy TTD Temple in T Nagar. Many members participated in the walk braving the sultry weather and intense heat. After the walk, Smn U. Ve Sriman Velukkudi Krishnan Swamy, Union Minister Sriman Venkaiah Naidu garu and Sri R. Seshasayee, Chairman of Infosys Ltd addressed the gathering and congratulated everyone for bringing awareness about the great icon Sri Ramanujacharya who strived to bring the community together a 1000 years ago.The program concluded by offering sumptous meals to the participants.
