During the six days of Garuda Vahana Sevas the 18 Perumals who gave Darshan on Garuda were offered Abhisekham on the next day, thus all 108 Perumal were offered Abhisekha thirumanjanam at the main venue. It was a visual feast to watch priests simultaneously offering Abhshekam to Perumals. The devotees had the good fortune to watch Abhishekams under the direct supervision of Jeeyar swamy for 6 days in a row.
Of all the events organised at the Statue of Equality as part of Samatha Kumbh Garuda Vahaha Sevas have special significance. In south India, Alwar Thirunagari and Thirunangoor temples are known for conducting simultaneously nine and eleven Garuda Sevas in a day respectively. But in our Statue of Equality premises with 108 divyadesams, by organising 18 Garuda Vahana Sevas simultaneously in a day, it takes six days to complete Garuda Sevas for all the 108 Divya Desams.
For the past four years, Perumal is blessing us with Garuda Vahana Seva in this manner. This is a holy event which redoubles our enthusiasm and sense of service. Everyday several devotees participate in the event and receive blessings from deities mounted on Garuda Vahanas. The ‘Saint of Equality’ Sri Ramanuja first felicitates each of the18 Perumals. Perumal’s Seshavastrams are presented to Ubhayadars.
This is an unprecedented event to experience. There are some temples among divyadesams where women are given prominence. Women working in the security department of Statue of Equality, carried three Garuda Vahanas daily. Our Jeeyar swamiji blessed them with this opportunity.
Priests of divyadesams, students of JIVA Vedic Gurukul also enthusiastically participated in these Garuda Vahana Sevas. During these Garuda Vahana Sevas, Saketa Ramachandra gave Darshan everyday on a different vahan, along with the Perumal of 18 divyadesas mounted on the Garuda Vahanas. Thus we had Darshan of various Vahana Sevas including Suryaprabha, Chandraprabha, Sesha Vahanam, Hanumad Vahanam and Gaja Vahanam.
Due to the lunar eclipse on March 3rd, darshan at the Statue of Equality will not be available.
Darshan will resume on March 4th from 3:00 PM onwards.
